WP4: Workshop and Conference Organization
Objectives
To organize workshops and conferences in the relevant research themes for UNAM. These will also include schools and short training courses for researchers in general and graduate students in particular. Young researchers, including doctoral students that are aware of the state-of-the art will be crucial to the success of research at UNAM. Such schools and training courses will be geared towards delivering the state-of the-art in their field of study.
Description
Task 1:
Organization of an annual conference in themes relevant to UNAM's research objectives. International participation at such conferences will be encouraged. The conferences will be open to all interested. All researchers will be expected to participate and contribute to the conferences from their latest research results.
Task 2:
Organization of an annual workshop in themes relevant to UNAM's research objectives. These workshops will include review of the latest developments in the field of interest. High level experts from international source will be invited to deliver multiple lectures. All researchers will be expected to participate and contribute to the conferences from their latest research results.
Task 3:
Schools and Short Training Courses: organization of a school or training sessions every year will take place aimed at graduate students and fresh Ph.D,s. Schools will concentrate on review of materials from fundamentals to the state-of-the-art to close the gap between the regular courses and state-of-the-art research work. Short training courses may concentrate on the uses of sophisticated research equipment, and/or a measurement technique. These organizations will be supported financially by this project.
