Dear participant,

Wellcome,

As part of the FP7 REGPOT program and on behalf of the UNAM REGPOT team, we would like to host the “Workshop on Current Trends in Molecular Nanobiosciences” and cordially invite you participate the conference which is scheduled to hold on January,13-16, 2010 in Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey). Complementing this school, a winter school on “Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology” is also organised at the same venue from 10th to 13th of January, 2010.

Although a great deal of knowledge is accumulated in recent decades, still the fight against many complex diseases like cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis, as well as some autoimmune, inflammatory or infectious diseases is very challenging. There is a very strong demand for developing novel, more effective means of diagnostics, therapeutics and imaging tools and methods. Nanomedicine raises hopes and expectations for patients suffering from these disorders.

The interdisciplinary nature of this newly emerging scientific fields (i.e. Nanomedicine and Nanobiosciences) necessitates the organisation of regular expert meetings between scientists from different disciplines including medicine, biology, material science, as well as engineers, chemists and physicists to share their state of the art research findings and ideas that will facilitate to translate these findings to bedside.

In these back to back meetings topics ranging from the characterization of cellular processes, machinery and interaction to control, manipulate or manufacture molecules or supramolecular assemblies to improve human health will be covered. In particular, the use of novel nanomaterials in tissue regeneration, viral or non-viral delivery, drug design/development, in vivo imaging technologies, and biosensors for monitoring and treating diseases and future applications of molecular nanotechnology as well as medical applications of nanobiotechnology will be the focus of this conference.

The aims of the conference are to explore and improve the biotechnology on biomedicine and to encourage greater involvement in its application. The conference not only will provide you a good opportunity for fruitful discussions, but also will provide an environment for establishing scientific collaborations and interactions.

The success of the conference will strongly depend on your active contribution and participation. Therefore, on behalf of the organizing committee, I look forward to host you in Bilkent University campus for this exciting meeting.

Best Regards

Ihsan Gursel,
