Scope:

The objective of the Eurasia-Pacific Summer School and Conference on Strongly Correlated Electrons is to bring together researchers and motivated students from all over the globe to interact on a range of frontier topics in modern condensed matter physics, with special emphasis on correlated electrons, including systems of superconductors, graphene materials, topological insulators, quantum Hall liquids, two-dimensional electron liquids at oxide interfaces, and magnetic perovskites. The unique meeting location in Eurasia is expected to promote better interactions and closer relationship between the European researchers and their counterparts in Asian/Pacific areas.

The joint activity will begin with a six-day advanced international school followed by a five-day international research conference. The summer school intends to provide the participating students and young researchers with the necessary background knowledge for the focused research topics. The lectures for the summer school will be given by a number of distinguished researchers in the focused research fields mentioned above. Additionally, assignments and discussion sessions offered by the lecturers or spontaneously organized by the students are expected to help all participants better their understanding of the lectured materials.

The international research conference will focus on current research progress and open issues of the same topics as those covered in the summer school. The conference will include invited and contributed talks, two extended discussion sessions, and ample of free time for informal interactions, so that all conference attendees can have the opportunities to exchange their latest results and ideas. Moreover, students who have participated in the summer school prior to the conference will be able to apply their knowledge acquired from the school to ongoing research in correlated electrons.

To enhance the friendly interaction among researchers in this Mediterranean region that is full of natural beauty, historical heritage and cultural riches, a number of social events will be organized, including concerts by local musicians and various choices of excursions to sites of natural or historical wonders.

The Eurasia-Pacific Summer School and Conference on Strongly Correlated Electrons is jointly organized by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics (ITAP) in Turunç, Marmaris, Turkey and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics in Pohang, Korea.
