Autobiography

I was born in 1971, in Izmir. As an undergraduate, I studied electrical engineering in Bilkent University from 1989 to 1993. In graduate school I studied Mathematics, in particular algebraic topology. I received my Ph.D. in 1998 from University of Wisconsin. After the Ph.D., I held one year visiting lecturer positions at Indiana University in Bloomington, U.S.A. and at McMaster University  in Hamilton, Canada.

Since August 2000, I am a faculty member of Bilkent University Math department. I was an Assistant Professor between 2000-2007, and I am currently an associate professor at Bilkent University. During 2007-2008 academic year I was a visitor at McMaster University.

I received TUBA-Distinguished young researcher award (2005-2008), TUBITAK Encouragement award (2007), and H. Lyman Hooker Distinguished visitor award from McMaster University (2007). I am in the editor board of Turkish Journal of Mathematics.
