Do a "Google Scholar"
search of the topic. Identify research paper(s) which
might interest you. (Example)
Look at the references of the paper. What is the earliest reference? (Example)
Do a citation search of these papers. You can either use the
citation citation index or the Scopus search engines.

Look at the publication record of the first author. (The first one)
