The Frattini and Fitting Subgroups
Abstract: We start by defining the Frattini subgroup of a finite group G give a characterization of it as the set of nongenerators of G. We also prove that the Frattini factor group of a p-group is its maximal elementary abelian quotient. Then, we define the Fitting subgroup and prove that when G is a solvable group, the Fitting subgroup contains its own centralizer. Finally, we establish a connection between the Frattini and Fitting subgroups.
