“Generic initial ideals and change of order”

Abstract: Initial terms of an ideal provide an important tool to study the algebra and combinatorics of an ideal. The initial ideal depends on the choice of a basis, but the initial ideal in generic coordinates (gin) is coordinate-independent. We discuss how gin changes with the change of the monomial order.
