"Quillen’s Theorem A"
By
Abstract: We conclude our preparatory material with a discussion of Quillen's Theorem A, which provides a criterion for a functor between small categories inducing a homotopy equivalence on the nerves. This is our main tool for equating homotopy types of spaces built from categories, and provided a crucial step in the proof of Thomason's homotopy colimit theorem. Once we have this result, we will be ready to begin exploring homology decompositions in the following weeks.
