Abstract: This is an introductory talk on operator models for locally C*-algebras. We first review projective limits and inductive limits of locally convex spaces. Then we define locally Hilbert spaces as strictly inductive limits of Hilbert spaces, consider locally bounded operators between locally Hilbert spaces, and show that they make a locally C*-algebra which turns out to be a universal model of all locally C*-algebras. As an application, we consider the spatial tensor product of locally C*-algebras.
