"An Introduction to Abstract
Dynamics II"
By
Abstract: Introduced as discrete time analogues of geodesic flows on Riemann
manifolds of negative sectional curvature, Anosov diffeomorphisms constitute
arguably the most quintessential object of abstract dynamics. It
has been long conjectured that Anosov diffeomorphisms can occur only on highly specific and
algebraically homogeneous spaces, the so called infranilmanifolds.
The speaker will present a basic introduction and delineate his own recent
research.
