Abstract: A solution to Linckelmann's gluing problem in fusion systems of blocks, gives rise to an alternative formulation of Alperin's weight conjecture which is one of the longest standing open problems in modular representation theory. In this talk I will describe Linckelmann's gluing problem, and its solution in fusion systems isomorphic to those of the symmetric groups by connecting the problem to a question in equivariant cohomology.
