“Group Actions on Polynomial Rings”

ABSTRACT: We consider a group acting on a polynomial ring over a finite field and describe a structure theorem that explains how the ring behaves as a module for the group. There are several unexpected consequences, in particular a bound on the degrees of the generators for the invariants that does not depend on the group.
