"Toeplitz C*-Algebra on the Hardy Space"

Abstract: Let H² be the Hardy space consisting of holomorphic functions f(z)=S_na_nzⁿ on the unit disc. Let S be the operator of multiplication by z (the shift operator) on H². The C*-algebra T generated by S consists of all

operators of the form T_f+K, where T_f is a Toeplitz operator with continuous symbol f, and K is a compact operator, both on H². Further, T fits in a short exact sequence of C*-algebras and *-homomorphisms.
