Abstract: The well-known
Riemann-Hilbert problem of factorization a(l)r(l)=b(l) by piecewise analytic functions a(l),b(l) of a given
function r(l)

defined on the circle is discussed. Here r(l) is a matrix
valued function with elements in the Wiener ring of Fourier series that
converge absolutely on the unit circle. In the

case when Re r(l) > 0 a stable algorithm is suggested for
the construction of the factors a(l), b(l).
