ABSTRACT: The talk has two main parts. Firstly, we shall examine the structure of the restriction of an irreducible KG-module M from G to H where H is a normal subgroup of G, K is a field of characteristic zero. Secondly, we shall use these results for showing that under some conditions, there is a proper subgroup T of G such that M is induced from an irreducible KT-module N and end up with a reduction technique for finite p-groups.
