In our simulations, we used the commercial fullwave code, CST Microwave Studio, which is based on the finite integration technique. The unit cell of the metamaterial medium under test is inserted into the simulation domain with periodic boundary conditions at the lateral directions (y- and x- directions). The linearly polarized plane wave propagating at the - z- direction is incident upon the MTM layers, the E-field is at the y- direction and the H- field is at the x- direction. We measured the reflected and transmitted time signals via probes, and then converted them to the frequency domain, manually, and finally obtained the relevant complex S-parameters.
