Turkey Chapter

In July 1998, the president of IEEE - Photonics Society, Dr. J. Gary Eden, invited
the Turkish members of IEEE Photonics Society to form a chapter in Turkey. After a
year of vigorous membership recruitment, Dr. Alphan Sennaroglu from Koç
University, Istanbul, submitted a petition signed by 12 members to form
the first IEEE Photonics Society Turkish Chapter. Official approval from IEEE Photonics Society
came in November 1999. At the end of 1999, the following members were
elected to serve as chapter officers.

History of the
National Photonics Conferences National Photonics Conferences started off under the name National Eletro-Optics Meeting in 2001. Later on, it was named Optics, Electro-Optics and Photonics Conference. Lastly it was given its current name, National Photonics Conference. In time, it evolved into a successful conference comprising any subject on optics and optoelectronics, with around 150-200 attendees. The medium of conference presentations is Turkish.
