Photonics Research Group

The scientific focus of PRG is on the physics and technology of electronic and photonic materials and devices. Optical, structural and electrical properties of new materials down to submicron dimensions are are accompanied by design, fabrication and testing of various electronic and photonic devices. Photonic gap materials, metamaterials, chalcogenide semiconductors, compound quantum dots and group four nanocrystals are just a few examples of the materials under study using various techniques such as Raman scattering, photoluminescence spectroscopy, absorption spectroscopy to name a few. The lab is actively engaged in studies of photodetectors, lasers, NEMS, plasmonic and integrated optical devices.
